Voice Mail

Accessing your mailbox

  1. Dial 518-298-6245 (MAIL)
  2. Either:
    • Press # if calling from your phone, OR
    • Enter the your phone number, area code first, if calling from a different phone.
  3. Enter your Password, followed by the # key. Your Password will be a default code of 0000 until you change it.

When accessing your voice mailbox from a phone other then your phone, you can call your phone number instead of 518-298-MAIL.

  1. Dial your phone number.
  2. When the greeting begins, press the * key.
  3. When prompted, enter your Password followed by the # key. Your Password will be a default code of 0000 until you change it.

Setting up your voice mail

Record your personal greeting(s)

  1. Access your mailbox
  2. At the Main Menu press 9.
  3. Press 1 for Greeting Options.
  4. Press 4 to Record a Greeting.
  5. At the tone, record your greeting. When you are finished press the # key.
  6. Press 1 to Play Current Greeting.
  7. Press 2 to Save.
  8. Press the * key to return to the Mailbox Setup Menu.

Change your password

  1. Access your mailbox
  2. At the Main Menu press 9.
  3. Press 2 to change your Password.
  4. Enter your new Password (1-16 digits) followed by the # key (choose a number you will remember).
  5. Re-enter your password followed by the # key.
  6. You may change your Greetings and Password at any time.

Listening to your messages

When you lift your phone’s receiver and hear a stutter dial tone, you have a voice mail message.

  1. Access your mailbox
  2. Press # key.
  3. Press 1 to retrieve your messages.
  4. Press 1 again to listen to the new messages.
  5. After you have listened to the message, a voice prompt will ask you to:
    • Press 1 to listen to the message again.
    • Press 2 to save the message and listen to the next message.
    • Press 3 to delete the message and listen to the next message.
    • Press 4 to save the message as new.

While listening to your voice mail messages you can also do the following:

  1. Press 1 to return to the beginning of the message.
  2. Press 4 to save the message as new.
  3. Press 7 to back up (rewind) 3 seconds.
  4. Press 8 to pause and continue playing the message.
  5. Press 9 to forward the message 3 seconds.
  6. Press * to return to the Main Menu.

If you wish to practice, call your own telephone number and leave a message. When you pick up the phone again, you will hear a stutter dial tone indicating that you have a message. Follow the steps to listen to your message.
