Customizing Your Phone

Custom Calling Features add convenience, speed, and usefulness to your telephone. As a private-line customer, you have the option of customizing your phone at a small monthly charge. When you order two or more options, you receive a 20% discount.

Call Forwarding
Eliminate the inconvenience of waiting by the phone when you're expecting a call. With Call Forwarding, you can transfer your calls to wherever you'll be - your office, the neighbor's or anywhere.

To forward your calls, lift the receiver, listen for dial tone, and dial "71#". Again listen for dial tone. Now dial the number to which you wish your calls to be transferred. When someone answers at the forwarded number, Call Forwarding is in effect.

If no one answers, or if the line is busy, hang up, life the receiver, listen for dial tone, and dial "75#". You will hear a recording meaning that Call Forwarding is in effect.

If you forward your calls to a number that is a toll call, YOU will be charged for toll calls forwarded to that number.

To discontinue Call Forwarding, lift the receiver, listen for dial tone, and dial "72#". You will hear a recording meaning that your Call Forwarding has been cancelled.

To turn Call Forwarding back on to the same number, lift the receiver, listen for dial tone, and dial "75#". You will hear a recording meaning that Call Forwarding is in effect.

Call Waiting
If you have an incoming call while you're already on the line, the Call Waiting feature will alert you. You may put the first party on hold while you answer your second call. It will greatly reduce missed calls due to a busy phone!

Your Call Waiting features alert you with a soft beep. Only you hear this tone - the second caller hears normal ringing. Another tone will be heard 10 seconds later if the waiting call remains unanswered.

To answer the second call, depress the switchhook/plunger for about one second to place your first call on hold. You will automatically be connected with the second caller.

You may alternate between calls by depressing the switchhook/plunger for about a second. Each conversation is private and cannot be heard by the other caller.

To terminate either call, simply hang up. Your telephone will then ring. When you answer it, you'll be connected with the remaining call.

Cancel Call Waiting
Cancel Call Waiting allows you to prevent a second call from interrupting your current call. Lift the receiver, listen for dial tone, and dial "70#". Again, listen for dial tone. Now dial the number you wish to call. When you hang up from this call, Call Waiting will automatically be available again.

Three-Way Calling with Transfer
This feature lets you turn a two-way conversation into a three-way conversation. You can place the first call on hold while you dial another party and talk to the second party while the first waits. By pressing the switchhook/plunger, talk to both callers at once - instantly. You get double your calling power!

To add a third party, depress the switchhook/plunger for about a second to place the existing call on hold. Then, dial the third number. If the third party does not answer, or if the line is busy, simply depress the switchhook/plunger to restore your original connection with the holding party. When the third party answers, you may talk privately before completing your three-way connection. With the third party on the line, depress the switchhook/plunger for a second to add the holding party. Your Three-Way Call is now in effect.

If you wish to leave the three-way conversation and leave the other two parties talking, depress the switchhook/plunger for a second to leave the connection. Dial "74#". You will hear two beeps and then you will be returned to the call. To leave the call in progress, simply hang up. If you were paying toll charges on either or both of the calls, you will continue to be billed for them until the other parties hang up.

To disconnect either of the parties, ask the person wishing to leave the conference to hang up, depress the switchhook/plunger for a second to disconnect the call. You will be reconnected with the remaining party.

To disconnect, simply hang up.

Speed Calling - 8 or 30 Number List
Speed Calling lets you dial numbers you call frequently by dialing only one or two digits.

To create or change your list, lift the receiver, listen for dial tone and dial "73#". When you hear the dial tone again, dial the Speed Calling Code Number (1 digit for the "8" list, 2 digits for the "30" list) where you wish to store the telephone number, and then dial the telephone number you wish to store.

If you wish to change the telephone number stored in one of your codes, simply follow the steps above with the correct telephone number.

To use your Speed Calling Feature, lift the receiver, listen for dial tone, and dial the Speed Calling Code Number followed by the "#" key.
